How much would you spend for a computer? How about $25?

The Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer and it can do most of the things your computer does. It's also an ingenious tool that gets kids interested in programming and makes the entire concept accessible! http://www.raspberrypi.org/faqs

App That Makes You the Curator

http://www.techvibes.com/blog/royal-ontario-museum-scopify-app-2013-10-03 http://www.rom.on.ca/en/education/online-activities/scopifyrom ScopifyROM is an app that takes the museum experience at the ROM to a whole new level. The app transforms any museum goer into a digital curator by providing digital tools, or “scopes” that let you dig deeper into specific exhibits. If you have ever wondered what was inside a tomb, or what a dodo bird may have looked like if it were living today, this app is for you.

3d Touch Screen? Disney is working on it.

http://mashable.com/2013/10/09/disney-research-3d-touchscreens/ Can 3d Touch screens actually exist? Will they be a part of our reality? Almost like touchable holograms? Maybe not so science fiction anymore.....

1871

http://www.1871.com/ Check out this tech incubator here in chi-town, great concepts very much akin to http://socialinnovation.ca/ "The Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center (CEC) is a non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurs on their path to building high-growth, sustainable businesses that serve as platforms for economic development and civic leadership. Its flagship project, 1871, fulfills CEC’s vision of a central address for entrepreneurs in Chicago. CEC runs and operates the workspace, develops programming, organizes events and ensures that the culture of 1871 allows entrepreneurs the greatest opportunity for success."

Turn your gaming system into an educational tool!

A pretty cool hack of the Wii Remote. What other tools have the potential to be appropriated and reimagined for education?

What's this 3D printing thing?

We've been talking about 3D printing as a potential project for our Museum Education collaboration, so I thought this video was appropriate to share.

Cleveland's Interactive Exhibits

Looks a bit different from what we saw today.

Thursday Salute to Originals: A Touchscreen Museum Visit

i forgot my phone

Just saw this video for the first time yesterday, while one sided I think it is very relevant and something that near everyone today is witness to. How do we cope with having so much information, entertainment, or social networks at our fingertips? What kind of effect does it have on the people around us that we care about? How do we begin to manage this new behavioral phenomena?

Changing Educational Paradigms

If you haven't heard of Ken Robinson or seen this video yet (or any of his TED talks) this is a must-see! The content is fantastic, and the illustrations are fun. Enjoy!

Bloggy blog world

Hi! My name is Brendan, I will be the TA for Cyberpedagogy fall 2013. Below is a link to a blog that a fellow teaching artist and I created with students over the course of two summer programs with high school students where we created a community garden and mural on Chicago's west side. Our students worked with us on blog posts and even began writing and posting themselves.
